Because this is 2009 and it was on radio the whole thing got recorded and posted to the Breakfast with Spanky blog within minutes!

I played my song ‘All We Could Do’ which i have previously recorded right here at the dear old Sitting Room recording studio. If you like you can listen to the radio version of the track and even download it for free at www.thesneezes.tumblr.com.

Or you can watch the video from this morning’s efforts with Spanky and Morgan singing beautiful backing vocals right here:

‘Chelsea Motel’ (Portland, Oregan) and their sweet little EP.

We have been fortunate enough in the last 3 years to meet so many lovely, warm and open musicians from around the world and when NZ country stalwards The Eastern recently mentioned to us that they had convinced a folk duo from the USA to come record an EP here it was no exception.

It was deep into The Eastern’s last US tour that I received an email from Adam McGrath stating that he had found a sweet little folk duo that they had convinced to come back to NZ with them and lay down some tracks. Of course, coming from Adam no matter how outlandish it may sound at the time you can almost guarantee that it is a definite YES this will happen.

Chelsea Motel and Max Countryman showed up to The Sitting Room studios last Monday with their guitars, banjo and a gorgeous 1-string oil can bass and we laid down some tracks. The band really know their roots and their sound, it was a pleasure to record and reminded of what I was talking about on a previous blog post about ‘knowing your sound’ if you are recording or playing live.

Max and his oil can bass

Chelsea Motel have catchy little tunes with awesome lyrics and we plain and simply loved meeting and being a part of this.

A 4 song EP has been recorded and will be relseased through Adam’s new label ‘Social End Product’. Chelsea Motel are touring the EP in and around New Zealand during March and April 2009. Be sure to check them out at a town near you.

You can hear one of the recorded songs from the EP here: Barrel of a Gun – Chelsea Motel
